In 2005, KÖLBL KRUSE tailored the four-storey WestSide office building in the western part of Essen to the needs of IT service provider Bitmarck. The company is the market leader for information systems for statutory health insurance companies. Therefore, rest and concentration are the top priority. For optimum sound insulation, a high glass curtain shields the building from the heavily traveled Hans-Böckler-Strasse. Last but not least, the absolutely quiet inner courtyard designed as a garden proves that this works perfectly. The inside of the building, designed by the architectural office Bahl + Partner Architekten BDA, offers state-of-the-art, sophisticated offices at the highest technological level. On the rostrum floor on the roof, the company’s centerpiece is the large data center. As reminiscence of Bitmarck’s business focus – data processing – a frieze of zeros and ones is incorporated into the building’s pedestal – the binary code.
