KÖLBL KRUSE has been building the hotel together with RAG Montan Immobilien GmbH since september 2018 on the former material collecting yard of the Gründerschachtanlage 1/2/8, in the immediate vicinity of the new building of the Folkwang University of the Arts. The new building has a gross floor area of around 2,000 m². A total of 67 rooms and 54 outdoor parking spaces are being built. The architecture of the hotel, which is located in the 3-star plus segment, is from the Cologne architectural office Kaspar Kraemer Architekten BDA. The opening took place in June 2019. The operator is the “Hotel Friends Group”, which moved into its sixth location in Germany to Zollverein.
