The new company headquarters of RAG Montan Immobilien GmbH was established on the site of the former Wassermesshaus of the coking plant Zollverein in Essen from 2010 to 2012. The new building project is the first new building on the coking plant site and even the very first building on a world cultural heritage site.
On the approximately 14,200 m² of land in the west of the coking plant Zollverein, a high-quality office property was built in two- to three-storey buildings according to a design by Hagen-based architect Jürgen Bahl. In almost 15 months of construction, two buildings were here erected with a glass cross-bar. They are based externally on Fritz Schupp’s typical brickwork architecture for Zollverein.
