In September 2003 the foundation stone for the flagship of the Duisburg inner harbor was laid: Five Boats, headquarter of the Novitas United BKK. According to the plans of the renowned London architectural office Nicholas Grimshaw & Partners in cooperation with the architectural office Bahl + Partner Architekten BDA, a highly modern office complex has emerged on 23,500 m² of usable space, which with its distinctive architecture is a widely visible signal for the structural change in Duisburg. Five seven-storey buildings in ship form with their bow in the direction of water. This unique architecture allows all employees a workplace with a view on the water. An underground car park provides sufficient car parking spaces. A special highlight is the spectacular LED illumination: One of the largest light installations of its kind in Europe immerses the building in a fascinating play of colours and shapes at night.
