The Allgemeine Speicher in Duisburg’s inner harbor was transformed into a modern office building with an internal park system in 1999, with a construction period of only 12 months, according to a design by the architectural office Bahl + Partner Architekten BDA. To this end, the ten-storey silo grain storage facility built, by Rhenania Allgemeine AG in 1936, had to be dismantled to the foundation walls. Under strict consideration of the preservation of monuments, attractive offices were created for 200 employees, including high-quality duplex offices. In addition, an internal parking / lift system was integrated to create the necessary car parking spaces for the employees. Afterwards, the historic exterior of the completely modernized building was rebuilt in a faithful way.
